Artos or Greek Celebration Bread

This week’s bread was the Artos loaf. This bread was amazing as I’m beginning to believe all the breads in the book will be. Peter Reinhart is obviously amazing and knows his bread. I had a choice of plain artos, christopsomos, or lambropsomo. Artos is a very flavorful rich full-bodied bread with a honey sweetened syrup on the nice crispy top. Christopsomos and lambropsomo are Christmas and Easter breads which have different dried fruits and nuts baked into the dough. I may definitely be making these loaves as gifts during the holidays. I don’t know that I will be making artos again during the summer though because the spices are just more wintery and I think in the winter this bread would be such a treat with a nice cup of coffee of hot tea. Oh and if you are a french toast fan this bread would be amazing. I don’t think my bread will make it to the french toast stage though because it is almost completely gone.
